[SOLVED] Console Port
I am unable to get the UP Square to redirect the output to the console port. I can get to the bios screen, but then when it boots, I get the following error:
OS: Ubuntu 16.04 Server
**error: no suitable video mode found.
Booting in blind mode
I have modify my /etc/default/grub file and added the following:
lsb_release -i -s 2> /dev/null || echo Debian
GRUB_SERIAL_COMMAND="serial --speed=115200 --unit=0 --word=8 --parity=no --stop=1"
Version: UP-APL01 R3.3 (UPA1AM33)(01/17/2018)
I have also set the bios:
Advance > Serial Port Redirect > Console Redirection [Enabled]
Advance > Serial Port Redirect > Out-of-Band manager > Console Redirection [Enabled]
I have tried a hundred of post and with no luck. Can anyone give me some advice.
Hi @dpitchfo ,
Did you try the Ubuntu serial port instructions for UP2?
Your BIOS looks like up to date...
Yes, I tried these instructions. I get the BIOS screen, but when boots, I get the video error.
You could try to test your UART serial console port maybe using the Linux Serial Test to confirm your UART is not working:
Found this post. My configuration are correct, the issue is on the UPSQUARE, the console port is ttyS4 not ttyS0. Once I changed that, its working. See:
ttyS4 and ttS5 are availble for UPSquared.
