Few Issues - Could use some help...

We have two issues that are preventing us from using these boxes (Up Squared) into production.

1) We cant seem to communicate with the TPM - errors out saying Tspi_Context_Connect failed: 0x00003011 - layer=tsp, code=0011 (17), Communication failure

_Ideally we can get Ubuntu Bionic installed on the internal storage and use TPM to encrypt the mSATA which will have all our VM's for these boxes on it. _

2) Every other reboot of the system hangs. Literally every other reboot. When you reboot it, it hangs at a black screen until you send a CTRL + ALT + DEL again. We have tried with three different Linux OS's - four different times. Same issue.

    Hi jlathrop

    1) have you check that you have installed the latest BIOS available? v4.0 now: https://downloads.up-community.org/download/up-squared-uefi-bios-v4-0/
Also please make sure fTMP is enabled in the BIOS as there is no discrete TPM chip onboard

    2) Have you installed Ubuntu with our kernel as per procedure described here? https://wiki.up-community.org/Ubuntu
After that and the BIOS upgraded to the latest version, does it still get stuck at reboot?

Regarding #1 - Doing it now

Regarding #2 - Yes, we removed the generic and installed your kernel per the instructions.

Flashed to version 4 (08/06/2018) and booted into Ubuntu. Reboot results in the same behavior. It has done this since the first install of OS. Can we do a quick call to talk about this before we start looking for other solutions so we can get our product to production?

    Hi jlathrop,

The fact that your system get stuck at reboot every time is not normal and we cannot reproduce it.

Is the board connected only to the screen, keyboard/mouse, ethernet and power? Or is any other device connected to it?
If you have this behaviour just with the board, you can request a replacement via RMA procedure on the UP Shop.

That is correct, nothing more than KVME - will request RMA (advising proof provided). Thanks.

@DCleri We were able to narrow the cause down to video. If we use HDMI monitor (tried many monitors) it happens. If we use a DVI and attach with a DVI to HDMI cable, the issue goes away.
