usb3

I wish to plug in a USB 3 hub to my up-board but I don't know how to use the usb3 OTG port. I bought a usb3 mini-b to type a female and I couldn't seem to get Linux to recognise any of the drives I attached.

has anyone already got a working solution to this?

thanks

The micro USB3 port is usually very sensitive.

I suggest to use already tested converter/cables like this one: https://up-shop.org/home/91-usb30-adapter-micro-b-male-to-a-female.html

Please make sure you have the latest BIOS installed: https://downloads.up-community.org/download/up-board-uefi-bios-upc1dm11/

Also you can try to plug-in all your device to the USB port on the UP Board before you power on the board.

I believe that is already the parts I have... I'll have to try the bios update.

at least I think that what I bought.. I would imagine I bought them off you if you had them on sale on your page when I bought my up-board and up^2

I have a thought that I'm using the VESA alloy chassis. are they know to prevent the usb3otg port from plugging incorrectly?

Can you provide me the link for the chassis (or a picture)?

do I need a particular app to turn that zip file into a bootable USB?

I don't have any spare thermal past so I really don't want to pull it out of the alloy case

but on the bottom it says
    UP-CHT01
    1907UP6402
    REV: A0.3 0 0

The other bit that's readable says
    HannStar K MV - 4
    94V - 01627

well, I found some paste and got photos of each side... I think this is my Kickstarter edition one but I have a 2nd one.

    https://justpaste.it/5ey5a
    https://justpaste.it/7hvi0

Looks like I never mounted the alloy case properly and it lasted all this time. poor little CPU must have gotten hot.

I think I've bricked it putting it back together because now centos won't boot :`(

    edit:
well at least it's not bricked... I just managed to corrupt all my kernels but the recovery one

    edit:
I can also confirm that at least for now, plugging the usb3 hub in prevents the up-board from posting. but i haven't done the bios update yet cause i don't know how

Can you let me know when you received that board and, from the BIOS menu, which BIOS version is installed?

Please bare in mind that the early adopter version BIOS cannot be updated with the newest ones.

i got no way of telling which is which... they are both in the alloy cases and have been sitting on the shelf together for so long i don't remember. Is it likely we can tell if i get pictures of the other PCB? I bought the 2nd one at the same time as my up squared. and i have never updated the bios on either that i can remember.

The BIOS information of this one is: UP-CHT01 R0.S (UPC1BMOS) (06/04/2016)
Along the bottom it says: Version 2.17.1249.

Can't edit my post. for some reason the button is gone... maybe that why i only worked out how to do it yesterday.

this is photos of the other one
    https://justpaste.it/411m6
    https://justpaste.it/7b541

    the BIOS information is: UP-CHT01 R0.0S (UPC1BMOS) (06/04/2016)
    Along the bottom, Version 2.17.1249

to me the numbers printed on the boards them selves are the same, but all the stickers of this one are much higher numbers. Also this one had a black plastic cover over the battery, the other one had yellow if, in case that indicates anything. The bios Information is different by a single digit though. there is an extra character in the 2nd one

I'm pretty confident the first one is my kick-starters edition model and this one is the newer one.

    edit:
I'm open to the idea of swapping them around so i can use the USB3 if the bios update will only work on the newer one.
and i now see you can only edit posts for an hour

The board you posted with the rev A0.3 on the back cannot be updated with the latest BIOS from the community.

The new one can be updated with the BIOS from this link: https://downloads.up-community.org/download/up-board-uefi-bios-upc1dm11/

    back to trying this again.

seems the otg port works fine with either of the otg to type a adapters i have. (as in i can plug in a usb 3.0 stick and it works.) it seems Linux doesn't like the USB switches i have. but the switch works fine on my windows box... sad face

are there any known good usb 3 switches to work on the otg port i can look at buying? i don't want to buy another only to find out it doesn't work
