[Don't own the UP2 yet] Ubuntu 14.04 on UP2?

Good morning/afternoon/evening,

For a project of mine I need an Intel-based board with a PCI-e slot - which the UP2 seems to have. All fair and good so far, but on the wiki I can only find installation instructions for Ubuntu 16.04 and 18.04 (https://wiki.up-community.org/Ubuntu) and for the 14.04 version it says that it is only for the up board. I need Ubuntu 14.04, as the software we are using is outdated and uses Linux kernel version 3.16-4.2 (so Ubuntu 12.04 to 14.04).

Now, my question is, does this mean I won't be able to install Ubuntu 14.04 on an UP2 board at all and won't I be able to use the PCI-e slot then? I have tried browsing the forum and I couldn't find any information related to this.

I need to know this before ordering the board.

Kind regards!

    Hi @delusionaldragon

UP2 board is only supported for Ubuntu 16.04 using a 4.10 kernel version.

So, if you need an UP2 you should use the recommended Ubuntu version.
Maybe, your best option could be update your software to a newer kernel versions.

    Cheers!
