UP board gets freezed during watching movie from external HDD
My UP Board running Ubuntu 16.04 keeps freezing during watching a movie from external 1.5TB WD Elements. I've tested various players and it happens on each of them. When I copy it to eMMC everything is OK. The problem occurs on both USB 2 and 3. Any suggestions how do I fix/debug this?

Hi ownadi,
Could you PM me the output of this troubleshooting script?
https://wiki.up-community.org/Software#Requesting_support_for_Linux_OSIn the meantime: there's a a possibly-related Intel erratum on the Cherry Trail SoC that should have be addressed by an UP BIOS update more than a year ago. If your UP Board has an old BIOS version, upgrading may solve your issue.

Hi ownadi,
From the information you sent (and after a BIOS upgrade) I'm not confident about this Cherry Trail erratum being the issue, but to rule it out completely - could you try adding this kernel parameter as a workaround and retesting with the external drive?
intel_idle.max_cstate=1
It's enough to add it temporarily for a single boot. See:
