How to get into the EFI shell?
Comments
-
Press F7 at boot

I didn't connect any keyboard to the board.
When press 'F7' at the serial console, it always bring me into BIOS setting. -
I am having the same issue with my Up Core. No option to enter built-in EFI shell when I boot pressing f7. I have built the BIOS update USB drive per the instructions, but how do I load it?

Hi @Robert Shelton,
Some BIOS don't include a built-in EFI shell. It's still possible to boot to an EFI shell on a USB drive though.
Could you try the following modification to your USB stick:
- Download https://downloads.up-community.org/download/up-board-uefi-bios-upc1bm0x_efi/ (the BIOS itself is unrelated, but this release includes an EFI shell).
- Copy only the
EFI/
folder from UPC1BM0X to your USB stick. - Delete
EFI/BOOT/startup.nsh
from your USB stick.
After these steps, the UEFI shell on the stick should show up on the F7 menu.
If this helps you then I'll report this back to the BIOS team.

Hi,
The link to download the BIOS with the UEFI shell is dead do you know where I can find the file?
Cheers.

You can follow the instructions and download the UEFI shell from https://github.com/chipsec/chipsec/wiki/Creating-a-Bootable-USB-drive-with-UEFI-Shell .
