Support for Ubuntu 22.04

Hi Up Team

First of all. Congratulation for a so nice Product (Up Board). We now have more than 200 pcs online for building automation.

After a long period of time we switch our main OS to Ubuntu 22.04. Are there any scedule to make a kernel for this Ubuntu version? I think it is very simular to Ubuntu 20.04. Our goal is, to bring out the image on autumn this year.

And ist the first HW-Version from the year 2016 compatible with it?

    As stated by UP, they have no intention to do so even though they are still selling the UP Board today.

    Sorry your project is relying on a company that doesn't have better kernel automation, intent to stand by for sale products, or any effort in eight years to mainline even small modifications UP Stream. Better luck next time.

    Wow, thats really annoying. I had to switch from ubilinux to ubuntu in 2020, because they also didn't maintain it anymore and now this.
    So this was definitely my last Up-product.
    And whats that for a communication?? A post in a forum thread? seriously??

    Hi Sir,

    Most of the functions on the motherboard can be used well before Ubuntu 18.04.
    However, on Ubuntu 22.04, the hardware specification requirements have been improved. Judging from the hardware limit of the UP Board, it is very reluctant. (This limitation is from the CPU, not the hardware manufacturer)
    If you can, you can try to install and use it. Most of the functions should be able to work normally, and the HAT40 part needs to be developed by customers.

    In addition, if possible, we would recommend using UP4000, which is a relatively new generation of UP-sized motherboards, using the APL platform, and the current internal test Ubuntu 22.04.2 can be used very well.

    (Besides, we are also working hard to develop new products)
