CPLD verify error on boot

One of my boards hung yesterday. I attempted to reboot, but kept getting the emergency recovery shell. After several attempts to recover the board, I reloaded ubilinux from scratch. The install completed without error. But the machine failed to boot after install completed, hanging on a CPLD verify error. Please see attached pic for details.
A subsequent power-cycle of the board produced the Can't read CTR error line that is seen just before the verify error, but the O/S booted successfully. Additional reboots produced the same CTR error, all with successful boots to the GUI.
Could anyone guide me as to the meaning/cause of these errors?
Thanks,
Robert
