Slow down CPU speed

Hi,
is there any chance to set CPU speed in BIOS to lowest possible value to save e.g. power consumption in log term op. 24/7?
As an alternative are there some utilities controlling CPU clock?
Best regards,
Nic

Hi Nic,
Yes, there's some options available to reduce energy consumption. For lower CPU clock speeds, as you suggest, you should be able to use the Linux cpufreq infrastructure (see this guide and this post from user ElieDeBrauwer). We will be documenting some other power saving tips shortly.
However, on current versions of the BIOS, the big obstacle with power saving is Intel erratum CHT45 (see this thread), which means processor deep sleep states can't be used reliably. That hurts power performance.

Thank you, but I forgot to mention using the up-board with Win10 only.
Exists there any similar like Linux cpufreq for Win10?

Hi,
You can try to set Minimum and Maximum Processor State under [Control Panel] -> [Power Options] -> [Advanced Setting].
Or the third party software BES looks powerful to limit CPU usage under Windows.

what if there's no other options but balanced scheme of power? win8.1
