Is useful the watchdog when UP BOARD hangs at boot?

in UP board BIOS

Hi all,

I have a system that sometimes take a lot to boot up. It appears black screen and after a few minutes the system goes on. Other times boots instantly.

I'd like to know if changing the Watchdog setting in the BIOS from 300 to 15 seconds it may help to reduce the time that holds at startup. I've checked and it seems that the time with black screen reduces significantly, but I'm not 100% sure if this setting applies here.

    Hi Sir

    The watchdog function will start when the system is turned on and will stop when the bios is handed over to OS.

    Could you please provide me more informations??
    What is your OS, kernel, bios version??
    Operate environment, such as temperature??

    Can solve this problem by replacing power supply??

    Thanks for your info about WDT behavior. I'll give you more details of our system as follows:

    • OS: Windows 10
    • Build: 1909
    • BIOS: UP-CHT01 R2.3 (UPC1DM23) ( 8/17/2020) / Version 2.18.1263
    • Operate environment: occurs at ambient temperature.
    • Power Supply: custom battery based power solution, although I've experienced the same wit AC adapter

    The power system can't be changed by now.

    This version of BIOS does not show the watchdog option.
    Currently disabled by default.

    To use this feature, you need to customize the BIOS.

    Hi @HarryChiu,
    I'm a bit confused.

    We've chosen Up board to build our IoT platform as the webpage says it supports watchdog timer.

    Developing/customizing BIOS adds much of the development work, which we wanted to avoid by choosing Up Board.
    Do you provide any BIOS that has watchdog enabled? Or does the webpage have inaccurate data?
