UP Xtreme i11 version 0001 - GPIO support

Hello,
by now I'm aware that the version 0001 is missing GPIO pins. After some research I found out that the 0001 version has different BIOS that disables the GPIO functionality and even hides the settings.
Unfortunately I really need the GPIO and version 0000 is unavailable where I am. My question is - can I solder the GPIO pins and flash the version 0000 BIOS to enable the GPIO functionality? Thanks.

thanks but unfortunately that isn't really helpful. I'm asking if there is a way to enable GPIO on the UP Xtreme i11 version 0001. Version 0000 isn't available and I really need the GPIO. I'm desperately looking for a solution.
