Car rental options

I am planning a long trip across the US and started looking into car rental services but there are so many options that it is hard to understand what works best. Some places ask for a big deposit and others seem easier but I do not know if they are reliable. Has anyone tried flexible rental programs.

I had the same problem and I found that some services actually offer rent to own cars no deposit which makes it much simpler when you do not want to freeze a large sum of money.
