Sneak Peek: UP Board Pinctrl Driver Set to Join Linux Kernel Mainline!

We’re thrilled to give you an early look at some exciting news: the pinctrl driver for the AAEON UP board series is slated for inclusion in the Linux Kernel mainline in the coming months! This upcoming contribution, developed by Bootlin, marks a significant milestone in providing robust, native support for these popular x86-based single-board computers within the Linux ecosystem.
The driver will enable proper configuration and management of GPIO and pin multiplexing on UP boards, enhancing compatibility and performance for developers and users who rely on mainline Linux.
While the final integration is expected in September, we couldn’t wait to share the news early! This upstreaming effort will simplify development workflows and unlock new potential for embedded applications.
A huge shoutout to Bootlin for their engineering excellence and dedication to open-source development, and sincere thanks to the Linux kernel community for their continued collaboration throughout the review process.
This effort highlights our ongoing commitment to open standards, long-term support, and strengthening the future of embedded Linux platforms.
Cheers,
UP Team
