32-bit PC (i386) desktop image

Can anyone tell me if this Ubuntu build should/can be installed on the Up Board? I can install the 64-bit PC (AMD64) desktop image fine but when I try the 32 bit version it does not seem to recognise it. I need to have a 32 bit build as the existing custom application I want to test on it is only 32 bit and fails to install when I use the 64 bit version.

I am afraid that 32-bit images are not supported but you can run your 32-bit applications on the 64-bit images installing the 32-bit libraries required by your application as explained on this page:
