How can we set the Serial Number from "To be filled by OEM"

We have 950 terminals being deployed using the Up-CHT01-A12-0432 running Windows 10. The client wants to be able to identify the devices on their network by the serial number. When we query the serial number (with wmic bios get serialnumber ) it responds with "To be filled by O.E.M." which suggests that it can be set. There does not seem to be anything in the BIOS though that allows this to be set.
Is the serial number data in the MAX V CPLD & can it be flashed via the Update CPLD Header, CN34?
I don't think this is particular to Windows considering this post:

This requires modifying the UP's BIOS. Or, through the AMI DMIedit to modify the DMI tables under windows OS without re-flashing the BIOS. But the AMI DMIedit needs to be Authorized from AMI, not free tool.
