Weak Wifi

Hi everyone.. I'm new to UP Board and recently got myself an UP Core. I have just installed the drivers provided in the Downloads section. However, I find the wifi signal extremely weak, leading to frequent drop outs. When I check the network signal on my laptop which is right beside the UP Core Board, the strength looks totally normal. Any idea what could be the problem?

I found my solution! I had to attach the external wifi antenna which doesn't come with the board itself. UP should start selling UP Core starter kits with all those necessary peripherals. I had to order them from my local Mouser Electronics..
Looks like that's what my problem is. I kept thinking it was because I had not configured the network settings correctly
Can you let me know how you've set up your Wifi config? I'm on Ubuntu, and most of the research I've done is suggesting using wpa_supplicant. These are the results when I attempt to use it:
Successfully initialized wpa_supplicant
ioctl[SIOCSIWENCODEEXT]: Invalid argument
ioctl[SIOCSIWENCODEEXT]: Invalid argument
wlan0: Trying to associate with bc:ee:7b:95:9f:40 (SSID='DavesHome' freq=2462 MHz)
ioctl[SIOCSIWFREQ]: Operation not supported
wlan0: Association request to the driver failed
wlan0: Associated with bc:ee:7b:95:9f:40
Never mind..
I happened to have a USB to RJ45 adaptor that I managed to make work with my Ubuntu install.. After a while screwing around trying to make wifi work using the suggestion here: https://askubuntu.com/a/652926/816430, I finally installed the package mentioned here: https://wiki.up-community.org/Ubuntu, and voila! Wifi all working, without an antenna (literally sitting on top of the wifi router though)
