UP Core wireless connection - or lack thereof

I received an UP Core, and after several false starts and the use of a USB hub and a USB to Ethernet converter, I was able to load UbiLinux. Nice!
However, when I try to set up a wireless connection using Wicd, I am informed that there are no wireless networks found. [Yes, I have connected an antenna.]
I'm not a linux guru, so be nice when I say that there is no mention of a wlan interface in /etc/network/interfaces, but the Ethernet one is there. That's about the extent of my abilities in that area.
Any suggestions? (Once again, be nice : - )
Thanks,
Gary

Hi Gary
wicd? there's no wicd in ubilinux 4
are you using the Desktop?
or the command line interface?

I loaded the ubilinux-3 version, primarily because of the missing links from the UP Core area, and the warnings involved in the ubilinux-4 path.
Does that imply that there is no wifi support in the -3 version? There is the wicd in -3 so I have probably made a false assumption.
I'll try the -4 version.
Thanks,

Hi
Ubilinux 4 contains the firmware and the kernel patches to make the wifi works
Those patches are not included in Ubilinux 3
