In the image below, you can see my BIOS version as: R1.8
It is sometimes referred to "Version 1.8" or "Release 1.8" on these forums.
It is technically identified by "UPA1AM18", as this matches the filename in the Downloads section for BIOS updates for the UP Squared. But simply "1.8" works for the UP boards.

Under Linux you can just use dmidecode as root:
# dmidecode | head -n10
# dmidecode 3.1
Getting SMBIOS data from sysfs.
SMBIOS 3.0.0 present.
Table at 0x79EDA000.
Handle 0x0000, DMI type 0, 24 bytes
BIOS Information
Vendor: American Megatrends Inc.
Version: UPA1AM21
Release Date: 09/01/2017

The version is right on the first screen.
If you are unable to reboot and catch it with DEL, i recommend shutting down/powering off first. Then upon powering on, press DEL several times.

Core Version 5.12
Project Version UPA1A 0.31 x64
And then at the bottom outside the scrollable area it says: Version 2.18.1263
Is it one of those?

Maybe because I'm on the UP Squared?
But anyway all is fine now, I was able to conclude I had 1.8 by the project date. I've now updated the bios to 2.1 and the date updated.
Thanks
My screenshot was for my UP Squared as well, which was 1.8.
