booting from sata port ?

Hi
I just received my brand new UP² board. Tnks to the team for this incredible integration performance.

I've just a n00b's question : is it possible to install a kernel (windows or any *nix/*nux flavor) on a drive plugged into the Sata port ? or is the local flash drive mandatory for this kind of use ?
I've not plugged my board yet (waiting for a serious bug compact PSU), but I'll need to often change my "kernel of the day", without using any dual boot mechanism -just plugging the good drive.

is this configuration realistic ?

Well, the boards can boot perfectly well from USB-devices, so I don't see why not. Just have a UEFI-loader configured and installed on the device you want to boot from, similar to how it'd be when booting some live-Linux-distro from USB, for example, and I would imagine it'd work fine. That said, I haven't done this myself and I have no interest to, either, so YMMV.

Thanks to you for you feedback.

The board support UEFI boot from the following interfaces:
- USB2/3 (default option for out of the box experience)
- eMMC
- SATA (or mSATA via miniPCIe)
- Ethernet (PXE Boot)
