USB 3.0 unstable / not working under Linux

I'm trying to get a USB 3.0 Camera to run under Ubuntu Linux but it will repeatedly connect and disconnect when used. It's like the connection is highly unstable. Is it a power problem? I've also tried using a powered USB 3.0 Hub but to no avail. I've read it is a known problem with the UpBoard not only under Linux, that's why I posted it here. Please advise, our company depends strongly on the USB 3.0 port for a project. Thanks!
