Webkit Overlay of HDMI Stream In/Out

Hi Up Squared Team,
I would be soooo glad if someone could implement a Chrome Overlay on FPGA between HDMI In and HDMI Out.
Let me explain:
In 2010, Adafruit created NeTv and OpenSource the code
https://www.adafruit.com/product/609
This card forward HDMI In to the HDMI Out even if the signal is crypted. A Transparent Webkit full screen is set as an overlay of the image.
There is so many usecase ! For instance I forward my security webcam and notifications on top of the screen:

But a 2010 card is very slow (CSS transition works but not the video). The Up Squared would be so impressive with this feature ! So much usage for Home Automation with Personal Assistant, Elders, etc ...
Thanks.

Thanks for your suggestion.
we cannot support this application, FPGA cannot capture the HDMI signal.
the alternative solution would be to use a HDMI-to-USB3 capture device and add this overlay on the captured video stream before sending the video out to UP^2 HDMI. However, it need a strong software effort. We don't have plan to do it now.
So what is the use case of an hdmi in and an hdmi out ?
But there is no device (only NeTV) that have hdmi in/out to overlay the information on the Screen.
Elders needs to know someone ring at the door, or event reminder, etc ... this features would helps to "connect" TV.
I like the way NeTV solve that by putting a Chrome layer that's very handy
I found this topic, and it's related to a question I have. So I thought I'd add this question:
You mentioned using an HDMI to USB3 capture device. Would the board be able to feed in HD 1080p video through the HDMI to USB 3 device while sending it over the web through streaming (through browser or Skype-like apps) using Windows 10 OS without the hardware being overloaded?
Thanks
Hi AlingWu,
Thank you, this is great to know it will handle it. I was actually looking at the same capture device as the one you you posted above as it is a high quality device.
In the product specs tab you can find a list of compatible and uncompatible USB3 controllers https://www.startech.com/uk/AV/Converters/Video/usb-3-0-video-capture-device-hdmi-dvi-vga~USB3HDCAP
It reads: This product is not compatible with Etron USB controllers, or ASMedia 1042 / 1042A USB controllers. Confirmed compatible USB 3.0 host controllers: Intel, Renesas (NEC), VIA, AMD, Fresco FL1100
Incompatible USB 3.0 host controllers: ASmedia, Etron
Can you confirm UP^2 will have USB3 controllers compatible per these specs? (Win 10 OS preferably).
Thank you!!!
My bests
For UP & UP Squared, all USB3 ports are directely connected to Intel CPU so there won’t be any problem reported. (Confirmed compatible USB 3.0 host controllers: Intel, …)
We didn't really check startech solution ourself, I just simply googled it. :-)
If you have nice test result, please share in UP community.
