INTEL Bug for alla Cpu Intel Cele4ron N3350, J3355, J3455 e Pentium N4200

Intel talks about reliability issues on Apollo Lake processors that could cause them to malfunction before the end of the warranty period. The company is updating the entire CPU range by replacing the current B1 version with the revised F1 version.

Now what will happen to all the up2 cards that mount these CPUs? Aaeon Europe BV is AAEON Technology what can you tell us about it?

    Hi @Fabio

As you can see from thomshardware there is an update from Intel regarding that:
"Update 9/11/2019, 8:50am PT: Intel pulled the PCN document from its site, and after further investigation, the company tells us the PCN was posted in error. We've provided more detail here."
    And a new article:

    https://www.tomshardware.com/news/intel-apollo-lake-cpu-not-dying-pcn-lpc-bus-degradation,40378.html

    In particular:
"Existing B-1 stepping chips do suffer from the LPC bus degradation issue, which can be rectified via a firmware update. This issue is classified as Errata APL47, as listed here (PDF). When the B-1 Stepping is used in accordance to the published specifications and design guidelines, it meets PC Client Usage requirements."

We will work with Intel to get the necessary information and update on the next steps.

[UPDATE]: on all UP Series we don't use LPC, which is the bus affected by the issue, we are verifying with Intel but we may not need to update the firmware/BIOS for such issue as it won't affect our products.

    Hi @Fabio

Since BIOS R3.0 Intel already implemented the firmware changes required to address the issue described in the link for LPC bus:

    • Update Apollo Lake Intel PMC FW v03.1d.00 Release

If you have any recent BIOS greater or equal to R3.0, then you are fine.

I suppose it is also useful for other users who had the same doubt.
Ok thanks a lot for the clarification and support.
