Up core case

For anyone interested, I have designed a 3d-printed case for the UP core. Eventually UP will make their own, and this will become redundant. But in the mean-time, I need a case! Once I've checked out my prototype, I'll make the design available for order from shapeways. Prices are set by them, unfortunately, not by me, so will be reasonably pricey ~$30 for coloured plastic.

Great! Shapeways sucks - it's slow and expensive . How about posting the files so we can print on https://www.3dhubs.com/ or a similar better service?

That is rude. I am nothing to do with UP. I just thought other people might want to use my 3d files.

Sorry you feel that way, I wasn't intending to be rude to you in any way. I've had two really bad experiences with shapeways - very expensive and took months to get delivered from another country. A service like 3d hubs though puts you in contact with lots of local 3d printers - it's a fantastic service. I've been able to send 3d files through 3d hubs and get them printed at a much cheaper price within a couple of days at a local printer, in fact depending on where you live you get a selection of local printers that you can go and pick it up from. Plus a lot of hobbysists/DIYers these days have their own 3d printers, which is a likely target audience around here.
And even if Up produce and sell their cases (which they're not yet, that I can see), it's often cheaper and quicker to print one locally - Up doesn't have a shop in my country (UK), so your (or any) downloadable and printable case is still very useful.
Intel did a similar thing with their ill fated Joule - they posted 3d files for two separate cases for the Joule that I was able to download and get printed through 3d hubs within 24 hours for a few £.

I've taken a look at 3dhubs, and I have to say that I am impressed! There are local people near me in Essex (UK) that can send for much cheaper, and much quicker, than shapeways. Very cool. Apologies for the misunderstanding on my part. -
