Hello UP Boarders,
The UP Xtreme i11 pages show a note that:
"Please note that the latest NVM for i225 IT Ethernet controller is not working in Ubuntu Linux."
with a link to a 1.5yr old Ubuntu bug report: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1945178

Does this apply to the integrated i225 ethernet controller?

Is this still an issue with Ubuntu 22.04?

Thanks, Graf.

I have both 0000 and 0001. We had noisy issue on 0000 and got familiar with Fan Control. It works fine.
https://downloads.up-community.org/download/upx-tgl01-fan-control-linux/

However I purchased more TGL Up Xtreme i11 0001, didn't think much different from 0000. Fan Control seems broken. I have two 0001, I never have FAN ON. When I connect the fan pins to my different motherboard, fan is running fine. at least FAN is okay. problem is mini 4 pin.

Without FAN ON, sensor reads +50 degree in idle time.

When I measured voltage on 4 pins, from the left to the right(pin1 to pin4)
0V 0V 4.6V 2.3V

It is much different voltage read from working pin in different board.

I ran the command before the measurement
//# bus is 0, it looks most of case it is 0
sudo i2cset -y $bus 0x2e 0x40 0xff

From the BIOS setting, it has 255 from Fan control.

BIOS version for HW 0001, only one available, is R1.0.

Can you check and help?

(1) I followed the instructions from the wiki https://github.com/up-board/up-community/wiki/Ubuntu_20.04 to install Ubuntu onto my Up Extreme i11 board.

(2) According to this document https://dgpu-docs.intel.com/devices/iris-xe-max-graphics/index.html, it appears that I need to replace the default Ubuntu 20.04.1 default kernel with the linux-oem-20.04 kernel to get the kernel driver to the Iris gpu, i.e.

$ sudo apt update && sudo apt install linux-oem-20.04

(3) But the Intel UP Extreme board is using a custom kernel: linux-generic-hwe-18.04-5.4-upboard. Should I be replacing the custom kernel with the linux-oem-20.04 kernel?

thanks
