Because the EM05-G LTE module has the newer 030e ProdID supported from the Linux Kernel v6.13 onwards.

How can this new device type recognition be backported to the old v5.4 kernel supported by UP-Board https://github.com/up-board/up-community/wiki/Ubuntu_20.04 ?

The datasheet mentions that there is a UART0 and UART1; which (if either) is used to connect to the serial console? Furthermore, what is connected to the RS-232 COM port that is broken out on the case?
